You should first consider how much can you afford to pay for a diamond ring.

Usually, people think that if the ring coasts the equivalent of two months of salary, than it is an affordable ring.

Of course, you also have other bills, so you have to save enough money to pay the bills while you are also saving money for the ring.

As you expect, this may take some time. Or, you could as well obtain a loan to buy the ring.

You should go to the jeweler and ask him how much you must pay as a down payment. It will be easier to buy the ring if you pay a part of it in the first place and for the rest of the ring, you make a loan.

So you can be sure that you will make the right choice when you buy the ring, you should know your girlfriend’s opinion.

It is already known that in some countries it is not traditional to take your girlfriend to the jewelers and ask her which one she likes.

In these cases, it would be nice if you ask her friend, her sister, or any other woman to take her to  the jeweler and assist girlfriend make her choice. They then can tell you their decision.

If this is too complicated, you should consider a jeweler that allows you to return the ring if your next wife isn’t pleased with it.
